I've seen people talking about Yoo Dayeon so I went to check her PR video

I understand why, she's really pretty, looks charismatic and looks more mature. Already on my fav list

So some of my fav C-GROUP contestants after those PR videos :

Su Ruqui, she's already standing out with her hair color
Cai Bing, some comments said she kinda reminds them Haseul and I can see why. Probably the eyes and the hair style
Zhou Xinyu, very pretty in my opinion
Leung Cheuk Ying, looks like she can speak Korea
And of course FANATIC's Chiayi

I think these are my top picks for K-Group and C-Group for now:

K-Group
1. Kim Doah
2. Jiwon
3. Lee Hyewon/Guinn Myah/Kang Yeseo/Lee Rayeon

C-Group
1. Su Ruiqi
2. Cai Bing
3. Chiayi

Anticipating the J-Group profiles tomorrow but so far, I'm really interested in Nagai Manami (she was the "baro naya" girl in their stage) in addition to May and Sakurai Miu.

It's interesting how they are steering away from mentioning the girls' companies. Obviously trying to distance themselves from the whole vote rigging scandal. So far the show has been an almost exact copy of the Produce series, we are even getting a hidden box video according to the schedule. The only difference that I have noticed is not having senior artists from the girls companies at the end of their intros.

The girls are all also wearing blue, yellow or pink pinnies. Its not according to the color designation Mnet did with the groups, so I wonder if it's just random or a spoiler for something. I don't think it's about skill evaluation groups because it doesn't match the rankings I would expect the few girls I know the skill of to be in, but you never know. Most likely just random though.

I hate the profiles on PC. It's a huge pain to move from girl to girl. I wish they added a next girl button so I don't have to always go back to the list or open on another tab and keep the list open. I hate how everyone is designing websites only for mobile and tablet. Maybe they add it when they release the J-group but I highly doubt it.

Anyhow, getting to the intro videos. It's always hard to make an impact in such a short video, but we do get a small glimpse on the girls personalities and those who really have a knack for promoting themselves, which is a big part of being an idol. From the previous produce seasons I can only really remember a handful of girls that managed to actually draw some attention with these so not judging anyone too harshly.

Youtube is always the fastest way to check international interest and it's very predictable. Bahiyyih has a big following, but it's hard to figure if it's gonna translate into voting for the show. In situations like hers when you have a big following from another group it doesn't always turn into voting because giving youtube views is easy but voting for someone takes more dedication that unless they become her fans some people won't bother.

Also expected was international fans caring about already debuted girls with Yujin having the second most views on K-group. Doah being second is surprising. She was 23rd on PD48 but it's not like Fanatics is super popular. I was thinking a Cherry Bullet girl would rank the second already debuted girl but I girls FNC really screwed up the girls promotions.

Yoo Dayeon at 4th kind of makes sense she has 146k insta followers and gets good youtube views. Chaehyun and An Jeongmin also makes sense with the former SM trainee fame. Finally at 7th comes the first CheBu with Jiwon. After that it's Yeseo, Chaeyun and Bora. Nothing too surprising imo besides Doah.

On Naver the girls have a lot less views, which is to be expected but the rankings change. It's Yoo Dayeon, Chaehyun, Doah, An Jeongmin and Yujin in that order. With Bahiyyih at 6th followed by Yeseo, Jiwon, Chaeyun and Bora. So right now I'd say the top ten is kind of the same. It's very early and the difference isn't that big specially on naver. A lot can and will change once the show airs.

C-group seems to have way less interest. No one broke 100k while 6 did for K-group. It's a day difference in video release so things might equalize. Luofei is at the top with 66k, followed by Ruiqi at 64k. Only the two have broken 50k for now. The rest of the top 5 if Hsin Wei, Zi Yin and Xin Yu.

I don't think naver views mean much for the Chinese girls the highest view is 583 right now and everyone else is under 400. Top 5 is mainly the same names in different order too but with 1 difference. Xiao Ting taking Luo Fei spot who's at 7 but only a 42 view difference. Not really relevant imo.

I'll spoiler my thoughts on the videos because this is already long and I'll definitely write a lot more.
Mostly I think the girls tried their best but no one really stood out too much. They aren't really comedians or TV personalities so I give them a pass for not knowing how to make an impact in just 99 seconds. A few girls I was very confused what they were trying to do and actually think they hurt themselves more than helped too.

Yeongyung is one that I kind of liked her concept, it's simple enough, but the execution was lacking. Don't know if because she isn't a great dancer or was hurried/nervous, but a old K-pop medley would be a great way to showcase amazing dancing skills or singing ability. She kind of shyly did very diminutive moves for the songs and I was just wondering why did she go for this concept.

Yunji I can remember because it's unique not as a creative idea just that it's very different from what the other girls did with the traditional instruments. Not that it matters or makes a difference because she has the least views.

An Jeongmin was pretty charming with her performance. The whole live musician at a cafe is alright but nothing too special as a concept but she had a very charming voice and sang well.

I don't speak Korean but I think Bora did well. At least her lyrics sounded like they fit the melody. Maybe she was pronouncing everything weirdly and it was terrible, but from a non speaker perspective it fit well.

I think Kim Dayeon concept was pretty alright. Not too mind blowing but what intrigued me was her spoiling that leadership is her strength and that we'll find out soon. My guess is she is chosen to lead a group they win and that is part of how she became the center. Or it might get edited out of the show because you know... Mnet :)

Kim Hyerim seemed pretty decent too. She pulled off her concept well. Didn't seem to forced doing her mock insta live, had a pretty charming voice herself, sang well. She looks like a pretty outgoing kid. Maybe even would do well in variety shows, but that is always tricky to predict. Variety is a pretty tough thing to do specially for idols. Also Hyerim and Hyerin is not gonna be confusing at all... At least they have different surnames.

Suyeon was pretty impressive singing. Nothing main vocal like, but she had some more advanced technics that trainees usually don't have. She does look a little bit like Eunwoo too like some folks have been talking about. Wouldn't say they are identical but I definitely saw the resemblance on the K-group performance.

I think Youngeun did pretty well too. Was very fluid didn't seem awkward or forced. Hard to judge fully her dancing in the onesie but it looked as good as you can. Also felt like she is a pretty outgoing kid that feels comfortable on stage.

Chien Tzu Ling looked like a decent dancer. What I don't get though is why so many idol trainers and idols like waacking so much. It isn't a particularly impressive dance style and doesn't really look great imo. Also very out of the left field she did voguing.

I have no idea what the opening bit is that Fu Ya Ning did. It was so bizarre.

Gu Yi Zhou messing up her ending is also memorable.

Hsu Nien Tzu saying it herself she isn't a great dancer or singer is a weird move too. I guess people would figure it out once the performances air, but the way Korean and international fans obsess over performance I think just leaving it be would be better than painting yourself as an average performer. Unless she is being modest and ends up doing great I feel like it's a puzzling move. We'll see how it turns out.

Liu Yu Han's intro was a bit disturbing. Media in general already gives a pretty awful body image message and K-pop is no different if not worse. So hearing her comment on her own weight was very disheartening. I know her not mentioning it wouldn't change anything and I'm not saying she did anything wrong. It's just a reminder of the bad parts of the industry and things we have to continue fighting to denormalize. Unless it was a mistranslation it's a very sad thing.

Turns out Wu Tammy was the super long haired girl people spotted on the C-group performance video. The concept for her intro was pretty unique, but her singing wasn't super impressive.

Xu Ruo Wei liking skiing and horseback riding, both sports that are hard to do a lot with no money makes me think she has a well off family. Not necessarily rich, but at least upper middle class.

I also don't get Luo Fei's concept. Did she just randomly decided to do a mermaid bit, or is it like an old nickname or a play on her name? She has the most views out of the C-group so if it works I guess.

Still don't have many picks outside of J-group. A couple girls drew my attention here, but I'm wouldn't say I have made up my mind on anyone. We are starting to see a few pre-show favorites and it's going to be interesting seeing if they stay there or not. Japan doesn't seem to interested in the show just yet, but things can change. August is coming up fast so we won't have to wait too long.

This JP candidate sang Dreamcatcher Lullaby in her intro video.

No idea who she is, but new best girl. From hangul, her name is Yurina.

If the voting app is available to c-fans, the popular Chinese candidates will win the voting.
For example:
Su Ruiqi has 3.4 million weibo followers
Roada Xu 2.3 million
Yenny Fu Yaning 1 million
Quite a number of them are >100k followers

It seems like we might possibly have a lot more independent trainees this time around which might be interesting.

All of them are young, from 14-15 to 25-26 so in 99 seconds it's hard to release something to stand out without doing something too crazy, too weird, etc.

K-side no surprise, either from YT or Naver : girls who debuted or known ex-trainees got the most views. Doah is surprising having good views when Fanatics is at "nugu" level. However she got CFs from Etude House which is really impressive when you know who their previous models were (Park Shinhye, 2NE1, Red Velvet, Sulli, Krystal, IOI).
Moreover those who followed P48 liked Doah for the way she behave, implying Mnet was rigging, and also because as a rapper she was good  That's what I've heard, so it's up to you to believe it or not.

If fans can vote, the Chinese contestants will win easily. I hope there is something to balance it.

Time to make my top 9-12, I don't know how many members the final team have :sip:
