“Lunch is to be served in a few minutes, Mr. Poirot,” a maid informed Poirot.
He responded that he will be there. He looked at the Portrait of the Hollow Family and at the young girl who smiled back at him. He was missing something. And whatever it was, it was crucial that he find it.
He walked out of the room and instead of heading downstairs to the dining room, he walked upstairs. There was a place he needed to go to. It could give him the answers he sought.He found a maid outside the library.
“I lost my bedroom key, would you have a master key i could use?”
“I am afraid we don’t have a master key but I could get you a spare key?”
She left the room and returned back with a box of keys. As she sorted them out. He quickly said.
“I am afraid I forgot to tell you, Lunch is being served and the housekeeper was searching for you. She said you are running short on buns.”
“Is that so?” she said in shock before excusing herself and leaving the room asking him to take the key with a golden handle. He smiled and took the box with him upstairs.
He reached the room he wanted to go to and tried on some of the nicer looking keys. The 13th key worked. He opened the door and walked into Isabella’s room.
Everything looked neat. Too neat in fact. Someone had cleaned the room.
