Well, who might have thought, Japanese fans ain't printing money Oh wait, I did. But there is this one guy here who thinks JYP's fast cash milking policy is a great idea, so lets listen to what he has to say

Just looked at the MMA updates and Twice's votes are pretty low again - I wonder if fans just aren't voting as much as they know they're not going

Also how did Yes or Yes sell so much on Oricon - 170k pretty mad

Also what are people expecting for the album next week?

Yey noticed this looking back and not sure if anyone esplained it to you why it has such a large jump over other albums in Japan.

The most obvious reason is Yes or Yes and Year of Yes repacks on Oricon-So it's actually the combined sales of 2 releases. If you shoot over to the Twice Wiki and look at the Discography section you'll see that both Yes or Yes and Year of Yes have 170,477 counted on Oricon.

Ngl im kinda bumped they might not get platinum, the album really overpriced tbh..

and if majority j once buy A version did the bdz arena dvd will get gold certified too if they sold 100k with A version?

Yeah we won't get platinum this time. Was hoping to reach 10 platinum in a row but they fucked up with this overpriced album especially when making J-Onces get all this content. This album will peak at 140,000 ~ 180,000. Tragic but expected.We won't get another 10 platinum streak, that is me just being honest. The odds of TWICE still selling 250K for each album and single for the next 3 ~ 4 years?(They will slow down on releasing content as they get older) Yikeseroni. Peaks only last 3 years in Japan for GG's maybe 4 if you're lucky. As long as we stay above 100K I am good though. Hopefully we can reach 10 Platinum total though!

Yeah, high prices + other merch/releases/tickets + singles sell better = lower numbers. I hope Warner (and JYPE) take this as a lesson and don't repeat the mistake (though as a whole I'm not too worried).

Potentially. It is A hot 140,000+ behind on Oricon. I don't think Hi-Touches boosted sales past 50K. We shall see how they do on Billboard. Mayhaps the album will also have been overshipped too so we can get the RIAJ cert. Depends, lets see. I doubt it but anything is possible.

If &Twice didnt have platinum that will be real shame, all song is really good quality wise, lyrics wise, tbh they seems invest a lot too with song production, movie making, and promotion.

Honestly the fact that Twice consistently sell so much despite the number of releases they have a year is mad in itself. I'm not going to say it's fully fatigue as when you take into account the price and timing of this particular album it'll definitely impact it but you have to wonder how quickly fatigue will settle in if they continue this kind of release schedule (there's a repackage coming in December as well?). Twice have so much full group content out you feel like some solos/sub-units etc will give the group releases a chance to breathe. But that's another question for another time.

Since Christmas time is coming Merry & Happy is rising on Melon. It's 747 place right now with 13,331 unique listeners and charting better than LOA and Signal.. 5 days ago it had 8,469. and out of melon 1000

Out of curiosity how did Twice not even make the final 5 nominations for the 2017 MMA Artist of the year award? Was looking at the criteria and it's 60% digital - they had four number ones in 2017 (including Knock Knock, the highest kpop group entry on the melon year end chart), and had 4 songs in the year end top 100 chart, more than any other group as well.

3 of the 5 nominees were EXO, BTS, and IU. No contest there. BB4 were on a streak following their successful debut in 2016, and did very well with their releases in 2017 as well. So that's 4 spots gone to BGs and digimons. It was likely Twice vs Heize for the last spot, and Heize was no slouch in 2017 with 2 strong No.1s with chart all-kills as well. It's 60% digital, but that also means 40% something else (online votes and judges' votes), and there's enough there to swing things either way.

Fairs- I assumed the digital difference, as it's worth so much more, would have made up any differences in voting but I guess the difference digitally may not be as big

MAMA and all the gayos should give both a boost, especially Fancy if it manages to win SOTY. But it's already doing very well, considering many people anticipated Fancy falling out of the charts around week 25-28. They just have to weather the onslaught of b-sides, Christmas songs, and Frozen OST tracks for the next couple of weeks.
