StanIt's interesting how different companies approach success.
Twice have really been the only GG over the last 5 years to not push and establish individual members at a time when the group has done really well.
The crux of my issue with JYPE isn't them trying to gain more market share, it's the half-assed way they've gone about it which is inevitably not leading to anything special, which makes me wonder why they bothered. If they had a genuine thought out plan of approach and had showed some investment in it, with support from Republic in various places and not done well, that's a completely different scenario for me.
Itzy and SK will not get this half-assed attempt when JYPE try and push them more west.
It's obvious I've become incredibly anti-JYPE but at this point it just seems like they're experimenting with Twice to see what's the least amount they can put in for some success in the west. There was nothing about M&M that screamed for it to be their arrival onto the western scene. There wasn't any big investment in the song, the promotion, the MV, nothing. Everything was just standard Twice other than a song they thought would do well in the West.

OMG's company seem to be going full frontal assault since the success of Non-stop/Dolphin. Just read that their Nayeon equivalent (I think) is debuting solo next month, I know one of them (Arin?) has been in a popular web drama recently and has done a bunch of other things. They've had some promo songs recently as well and have a song with some western feature coming out this Friday which seems random.
Jype's trying to push Twice in the west is good for the company in general, when other 3 big kpop companies are doing the same thing. Both SK and Itzy are still so young, they cant yet carry the banner of jype. Whatever lesson they are gonna get here will be definitely used for the benefit of niziu in the future. That group has like 2 english speakers, with one having a US citizenship even.
Twice is bound to lose a bit of their market share in sk, whether we like it or not. From my own perspective, pros outweigh the cons in their push for the new market. Like you said, they are a 5yr old gg already. It is ok to take that risk imo. Its pretty obvious that at this point, kpop is going to gear more towards the market in the west. Even SM is now rumored to be debuting a 4 member gg.

A quick question to anyone who might know more than me. Recently as more K-Pop groups have been breaking into the international music scene, in particular the US, I notice some terms I'm not familiar with.
I know a huge amount about the Korean music industry, a fair bit about the Japanese industry and practically nothing about the US industry.
So I see recently people talking about songs getting 'immediate radio impact' from their US labels typically. Columbia(BTS distributor) recently announced it for Dynamite(they also had it for BWL) and now Interscope also did the same yesterday.
Is this just your label paying for a certain amount of spins? Or what, I remember a melt down in Feb' as ON got almost 0 radio play and HYLT came in like 10 places lower than predicted due to no radio...So is this just something the labels can secure for you or what? Do you need pre-approval from the stations?
I wonder is this something labels with only do for western collabs or full English releases? I wonder is this something Republic could do in the future for Twice since I know they secured a near ridiculous amount of immediate radio play for Folklore and Stuck With U, same for playlisting. Drake is also known to have an insane level of 'support' from RR, with entire albums showing up in pretty much every playlist on Spotify and AM basically as soon as they drop.
Now I know those 3 are RR most major acts and redio/spotify is their lifeblood so I get that-I'm just thinking it would be a decent thing for even a very small amount of spins in the future, nothing too large scale and maybe to appear on a couple of non-K-pop specific playlist for a week or two.

Well that's the right term, they are experimenting at this stage. We also have to consider that none of the girls can speak english on a conversation/ talk show level. Same reason why SM pushed nct127 instead of exo despite the latter having a much bigger fandom in the US. So I am not really expecting any big push tbh. At least we wont have same regrets and sentiments the exo-ls must have been feeling all these years.

omgirl is also releasing on the same day with BP. My bet is on omygirl though

From what I understand, radio spins in the US is mostly due to payolas from big records company. "You play our song, we pay you" type of dealings. But there are other djs who would refuse to play the song just because the artist is an asian. This is what Ive read mostly from years ago when an asian artist i was following was trying to break into the US music scene. They would also refuse to play the song if the artist is a nugu. This is the true to really big radio stations where you have A listers singers fighting for those spins.
So in short, if republic records will invest lots of money, then there is a chance for radio plays of Twice song.
Straykids will have a repack on Sept 14. Judging by the strategy of jype the past months, there will be a teaser on Sept 21 then a comeback on Oct 12. It could either be Twice or Got7. Well we all know it is gonna be Twice though.

Hmm...interesting, I know Republic and other UMG labels have been exposed in the past for payola and what not and honestly I really don't care about that, if everyone is doing it than might as well cop a piece of that pie, esp when being Asian you are already at a disadvantage.Well that's the right term, they are experimenting at this stage. I hope if Twice ever have an original title track RR work out some kind of deal.
Also, I have to say I think SK's teaser was pretty awesome to be honest, even better than the first Not Shy.

StanBruh, why is everyone is in such a disconnect with me. I feel like I am speaking alien language. Of course I don't mean why Twice didn't go to these exact shows. I am speaking in general. Twice had little promotion in Japan. Their popularity is just result of breakthrough hit and word of mouth.Arent most of those "shows invitations" just a bunch of short tv segments with prerecorded interviews at best? I mean TWICE got this mezamshi appearance every Japanese comeback and it's nothing more than announcer reading JYPE press release while broadcasting some bts MV stuff.
TWICE had ton of those, really nothing to be envy about.

StanI will tell you what not to do. Don't listen to Kpop fans. Don't listen to Armys in particular. Those guys think the whole US music industry is resisting and blocking BTS, otherwise BTS would end up with #1 year end billboard. And I am not exaggerating. The whole anti radio hysteria is coming from them, on the other side their mass streaming seems pretty ok for them and not unfair, "we armys love listening to BTS songs 24/7" they say.A quick question to anyone who might know more than me. Yeah somewhat, the standard formula since post, maybe, May 2018 is just 2 minute morning news segment with 1 Music Station appearance and that's it.Bruh, why is everyone is in such a disconnect with me. I'm really not sure why they don't promote more in Japan. They don't even play any Japanese music festivals even tho some other Kpop groups do.

StanGuess we would have heard something if they had sent it out to radio. Doesn't seem like there was ever much of a plan with this version.

While I don't fully disagree with the OP, Twice are the most popular group in Japan and they are probably under-promoted, you are right. the OP is just a troll and shit stirrer.Have the OP of that thread blocked so going to use some troll started it/someone not a fan of Twice.
@Dreamer95 I notice every time someone tries to talk about the treatment of Twice and current state of their management on AKP forums every thread is filled with Blinks trying to gatekeep mistreatment lmao.

Gaon Weekly Updates.
#200 Fancy 2,067,065 Total 673,250,722
#165 DTNA 2,409,267 Total 1,066,132,960 (still a monster tbh)
#38 More & More 10,767,305 Total 228,086,962.
For reference at this point, 12th week.
Feel Special was at #57 with 10,055,269 and Fancy was at #23 with 17,395,394.
A few quick notes tho. Fancy is doing a lot better, that's obvious. Feel Special looks to be performing only marginally worse at this point, however, it's worth pointing out Index points calculations have changed slightly this year over 2019, meaning it's believed you actually earn a lot less now.
For example on week 12 Red Velvet Psycho was at #13 but earned only 15.7m points. So this could indicate that M&M is actually out performing Feel Special by a larger margin than it would seem.
Interesting note, once again Onieric Dairy didn't feature, strong indicator that Twice will hold their record next month. I think OD will fall into the same selling pattern as BloomIz, which hasn't featured on the monthly chart since March, at this point it seems Twice will only increase their lead.

StanJYPE did their drop the same MV as the Korean version but in Japanese months (in this case over a year) later.
I don't know what they expect fans to do with it. Low effort.
Even just a homemade MV by the girls or some kind of cool lyric/concept video would have been better

While the recycled outfits looked a bit ghetto I really liked the dungarees stage and i think it was really good overall.

StanThe fact that JYPE & WMJ chose this exact thumbnail for a video tells me they either genuinely don't think this scene was bad in any aspect or they simply don't care about this Japanese stuff at all.
