Yeah it started off so much more promising but will probably end up doing just the same, could still go either way - but that's what the hype got us I guess.

Feel Special is an odd one for me - I feel like the fanbase are so vocal in how much they like it but none of the numbers it has correlates with that being the case. It has only really done well in Japan and that seems more Nizi based.



The Gaon year end top digital and physical seller will be an interesting one this year. Twice have topped both every year since they became a thing comfortably but this year will be difficult.


Physical wise, IZ have already passed a mil I assume, with the two releases + some back-catalogue sales. They'll probably have another release before the year is up so will probably end up with like 1.5m. BP have sold 300k of HYLT, assuming the one coming also has a physical announced late maybe another 200k'ish. Then if the full album does sell 700k they'll get to like 1.2m. Twice with back-catalogue sales added must be like 650k at the moment, assume in October they sell 550k again they'll probably also be around 1.2m. Feel like IZ may take it.

Digitally, roughly so far this year in cumulative points:

Itzy: 432m
RV: 556m
BP: 335m
Twice: 494m
OMG: 649m
MMM: 396m
IZ: 475m

OMG could literally run away with it depending on how BP's August release does. I don't think Twice will end up with much of a chance in the digital unfortunately. OMG are gaining like 40m points a week due to how well Non-stop and Dolphin have done. BP are also gaining like 40m a week as the success of HYLT has meant some of their other songs have jumped back up as well. Twice are just under 15m a week

I can't speak on digital sales but on albums Twice is already very high on Gaon this year.

Apr= No entry/out of print
May= No entry/out of print
Jun= 596,724
Jul= 13,601

So pretty strong, beyond some stock issues that have been on and off since April Twice have been selling really well.

If January counts for 2020 the total so far is 733,433. Without January that's 693,340.

I assume they will sell minimum another 50k in old albums this year and probably 10-15 thousand extra for More & More and with the October comeback we're talking 550k, with potential of crossing 600k.

Seeing the reaction to this survey going around on places like Twitter and Reddit (Twice's sub-reddit is legitimately clueless, have to be the most out of touch fans) makes me realise how unaware so many fans are.

I definitely get not everyone will have time/care enough to follow the numbers like we do itt where we can see clear regression due to JYPE's decisions, but some of it is so obvious. How can there still be people that think everything is going perfectly and that JYPE are doing a great job.

Unfortunately on of the mods GodsWithin on r/Twice is very quick and usually semi hostile to any negative talk or complaints and a lot of people follow his lead on it with a lot of fair and legitimate complaints being down voted until they are 'hidden' and this unfortunately reinforces that subs belief that everything is a-okay and that's just not the case.
He's also one of the mods on Twice's main Discord I believe too, so a similar situation is going on over there too. He's a nice user and great moderator in my opinion on 99% of issues, but when it comes to complaints or any talk of bad mgmt or treatment he's so tunnel-visioned and set in the way of everything being gravy at the company and everyone disagreeing being kids or idiots that the Once that frequent r/Twice and .Twice are really out of the loop and about as ketchup as they come.

But this survey and subsequent incoming protest(in whatever form it takes) is a long time coming and many big accounts are already behind it and from what I've seen most K-Once are galvanized behind it, it's a similar situation for Once in Japan, on Twitter, forums, etc...the only ones the penny ain't dropping for is r/Twice users. They just don't have their finger on the pulse at all.

Your insecurity is showing. We were just talking about aspects where Twice can have room for improvement. That despite some of the people commenting that they are flopping, the data shows they are not. Twice growth in Japan and SK have already plateaued. Why do you think they were only able to cross 400K just last year 2019 after years of sales at 350k? Years wherein they only focused in JP and SK? Prior to Fancy, 1/3 of album sales are from Japan. After Fancy, that decreased to 1/4 at most. Spotify and YT are just few of the metrics that we can use to just gauge the expansion of the fanbase outside the usual JP and SK. There is no way that spotify and YT are the end game metrics to being the best selling GG. I would suggest you lessen your time of association with blinks so you can still see the bigger picture here.

I am not sure you know what insecure means, you literally want useless stats others brag about, so that you can also brag about. I am not participating in this.

Reddit users do nothing but share pictures all day. Literally all subs are like this nowadays, game subs, movie subs, series subs. Look at this art I made, look at this meme I made, waifu wars etc. Basically bunch of emanresus.

Twice album sales with back catalogue is already at 760k. That is like almost 200k of back catalogue~ 1.3M+ this year is totally possible..

FS has a better streaming than Fancy. And that is due to the Fancy effect + Niziu reviving it just a few months ago. NiziU effect just had it climb in streaming number faster than expected.

Nice to see and likely push into 200k copies sometime next year. Kind of loaded since Oricon counts Year of Yes as the same album, but still a nice number,

Feel Special also passed 120m streams on Spotify and I believe over 300m total streams on YT too I would consider that a seriously successful song for Twice. 29m unfiltered streams on Genie combined with it's current index we can estimate it's probably getting close to 40m or 50m streams in Korea too. It's also passed Silver cert in Japan which is another 30 million verified filtered streams.
Total right now before it's even a year old has, at a low ball end, got to be roughly 500+ million streams.

Older albums other than Fancy You have been charting ok in Oricon.. the ugly you you you all over the cover was to blame imo.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if JYPE just abandon all the "western expansion" projects regarding TWICE and concentrate on asian markets solely again. They won't achieve anything with those half assed attempts except losing relevancy in their base market.

I was so vocal on Twice expanding to keep the growth after Fancy did so well and kick onto that next level but I think JYPE have already blown it.

They've lost out in their two biggest markets with awful decisions and are obviously not getting very far with these awful attempts at trying to do well in the West. As mentioned previously on this thread, JYPE are just not built for it. They don't have the personnel/know how/ability. If only Bang PD had never left maybe JYPE would be smarter in how they try and grow their groups because whilst other groups keep growing there's an obvious ceiling at JYPE.

It really feels like we could end up with another Wonder Girls. Feels like we're halfway there with multiple other groups doing better than Twice in SK (we can add G-Idle's release to another that looks like it'll do better than FS and M&M digitally in SK overall) whilst they make minimal impact in the west.

Expansion to the west does not mean getting into the american public radar. It should be obvious from the Twicelight tour that Twice can have enough market share in existing kpop community in the west. So since 2 big groups, BTS and BP are both releasing something within these 2 weeks, Twice association with them could still bring in some publicity. YG did the same publicity stunt before. They kept on attaching BP's name with BTS when they were just starting to promote in the US. Only Onces will take the english version seriously if they decided to release it a couple of weeks from now instead. That is more useless imo.

Proof of what I am talking about? Multiple articles from US-based press were just released today. People are talking about not just bts today, but twice as well. The english version was not for snatching records but rather for marketing purposes.


I've seen a lot of "no to west expansion" today that it is just getting too ridiculous already imo. When are you guys going to realize that among the jype groups, Twice actually has been the least promoted outside Asia? Even itzy has already done US tv appearance. I dont know why are you all so paranoid. Its not like Twice are gonna promote there the same way they did in Japan.
