And honestly, no other artist even comes close. There's like 10 direct copies (SKE, NMB, SDN, HKT, Nogi, Keyaki, STU, Hinata, Yoshimoto) in Japan alone, and then there's like 15 in other countries (including the Chinese groups). And that's just the "official" ones. Look at any idol group this decade and it's likely that AKB influenced them in some way. Stardust looked at AKB when creating Momoclo, =LOVE and =/=Me are produced by a previous AKB member... Last Idol and 22/7 are created by Aki-P. I'm sure there's more, too.


While they haven't been the most popular group of the decade, there are few artists with more/bigger hits than them and no other artist has been as constantly in the news.
