i always thought miichan would wait until the 15 anniversary to announce graduation, well that was more of my wish. perhaps seeing the status of the group she decided to quit when akb is still relevant.

stealing this from stage.48: if you have to review the year 2019 for akb, the general state, the good and the bad, what can the group/mgmt do to make 2020 better that this year, what will you say?

for me the group had a bad year all around, from mgmt carelessness to their complacent attitude about the group doing the bare minimum to survive. to put it simply they aren't in good shape and they dont seem to want to do anything to change that.
the bad: no promotion for kks, shows cancelled, cafè closing, scandals of various nature, no ssk/Kouhaku Taikou, many graduations.
the good: team concerts; festivals in asia; concert in madrid?

what the group/mgmt can do: outside agencies for the girls; maybe an akb album to celebrate the anniversary + hold a national tour in arenas and let ALL the girls shine on stage; new theater stages; reward girls not only bc they "bring in the money" but bc they work hard; bring back ssk and use social media in a more affective way;
the members need to improve and challenge themselfs, and try not to look bored when performing, you girls aren't paruru

We can all agree that 2019 was not just bad but horrible to akb48 in general . The concerts , tours , festivals were great but it doesn't compare to the all days like that spring festival was it or summer festival was too disorganized but the tour & the team concerts + the overseas scheduels and them doing more content on youtube and making sure there is subs in almost every new video is awsome . Glad they promoted some kks but they need to promote them all they need all the numbers they can get and homma mai a 16th gen has waited 3 years and has yet to be promoted not too mention the many gems from draft 3 who are extremly talented not just potential wise but at actual singing and dancing . They all need to be promoted asap and as much toxic drama and exhaustion ssk and janken brought to the fans and girls it gave the members something to aim for and it showed who really loves her group and whos only her for clout so she can be japan's next top model or the hot new actress aka it girl . They definitely need another variety show not just for the " pushed girls " but for everyone infact not just one as many as possible so they can get to know each other and talk about the group more . And aks needs to focus on the girls as a group not as individuals yeah thats the point i get it but thats not what i mean what i mean is for example instead of meddeling wether moeka goes to the theater or not focus on the groups issues and think about an actual solution not just closing everything and give akb4 less known girls more oppurtunatys and dont make everything about team 8 and give center to the girls who want to be there for the long run maybe develop new events to improve teamwork in akb that would be fun and less dramatic than ssk / janken

i agree with you, 2019 is horrible for akb48 and they are trending downward into obscurity if they dont do something radical in 2020. Maybe they need to get the girl to the down gritty back just like back then when they even promote their album to the street and shit, this will help most of the girls as well because these day most of the members almost have the same personality. ( i only talk about akb, i dont about other sister group).

2019 has been pretty slow for girl groups in general, I can't think of a single one that has gotten more popular and all the big groups have lost popularity or hype. It's something you have to take into account. AKB also still has the best-selling singles in Japan, 14 years after the group was formed. I wouldn't worry about their popularity or success.

This year was, however, filled with setbacks. The NGT scandal, Moeka graduation, no SSK, no Janken, Miichan grad etc.
On the positive side they have actually done a lot for international fans, and the singing contest was a good initiative.

group dynamic is really important, not only bc it lowers toxic rivalry and increase the group spirit, but it shows during concerts/variety/etc.. that they enjoy what they do. one of the reason i started to like akb was bc the group was compact into making akb a national group and they seem to enjoy working together even if they weren't friends irl.

two funny things happened:
apparently Yukirin was once again denied access to the theater bc staff didn't reconogize her
Milky new group debuted and she's one of the members. they are called Ange et Folletta

is true that many group had a setback this year, look at kayaki, but this isn't something to underestimate. with only two singles i expected bigger sales for sunstainable but that didnt happen. you have to keep the fans interest alive or else they will leave for some other group. and akb fans aren't an exception, remember last year concert at SSA? if that wasn't an alarm bell going off....
and i'm talking about akb not the 48g, akb doesn't have singles so i never use the record sales of the 48g to judge akb. or better you can see hw much akb contributes and their numbers are just a little better than the sister groups bc of the quantity of members.

I finally had time to watch the anniversary performance I will just write a long resume of what I think of it.

Also about the fact that AKB48 had a bad year in general I guess I have a different point of view on it. I for one don't put all the blame on management for making AKB lose their popularity , for me the members themselves hold half the blame. The one and only complain I usually had this year with AKB48 is that a lot of the members (those who debuted after the golden era) are not desperate enough to stand on stage, AKB has become too much of a safe place for them. So AKB48 loosing popularity in my opinion might help them wake up and realize they actually have to work and give their all on stage. If everyone had the same passion as Jurina I'm pretty sure AKB would still be on top tbh. I'm not saying all the members are like that tho , a lot of new gens are so passionate on stage ,which is the main reason I love following newer gens so much.

Now about the 14th anniversary performance.. I don't really know how to put in words tbh but it was the best performance I've watched in AKB's theater this year. Everything from Team perf to the Units was just perfect ! Sorry in advance for the really long post

Team A :

- Team A started the concert by performing the best song AKB48 has released in years , I'm of course talking about the beat carnival song that Yuiyui centered and that they TOTALLY wasted (still salty). It was so good , Yuiyui did a great job as center too .. I don't praise her often but when she really does good she deserves it.
- The 2nd song they performed was Matenrou no Kyori , nothing much to say here ..everyone in Team A is familiar with this song as they perform it almost every month in Team A stages , a good song too.

Team K :

- They performed a classic Reset , as always fun to watch.
- 2nd song was Alive which was more interesting imo. The Team spirit is really here in Team K now.

Team B :

- First song was Shonichi and who doesn't like that song tbh , overall they are really cute as always lol
- Then they performed Bokutachi no Kamihikouki , I think they had better songs to pick there but oh well..

Team 4 :

- I was really surprised with Team 4 , Yuiri picked 2 perfect songs for her team. They started with Kangaeru Hito , the chorus was glorious as always and I enjoyed it so much.
- Then it was Seijun philosophy , here too a perfect song for them. Also Zukki centered it so bonus point.

Then it was the new Eitos introduction. Tbh they feel more like a new AKB48 gen than just new eitos.... also most of them are so cute its not even fair.

- There perf was pretty bad tho but at least it was cute lol..
- Then Team 8 performed nothing much to say here , I always like it when they perform 47 no suteki na machi e.

Then it was the Unit section and I just want to praise whoever decided the member selection in the different units , everyone fits right in where they belong.

- 1st unit was a cute one with Manaka , Kururun , Maeda Ayaka , Momoka , Yuna , Misa and Fujizono Rei . You just can't go wrong with Manaka and Kururun , they are just too good whenever they are paired.

- I want to thank whoever made the 2nd , Thank you for putting all my faves together. The unit was composed of Naamin , Miu , Erii , Minami , Yuuka , Serika and Ruka. Please AKS give me more of this unit ,just please.

- 3rd unit was the mature/sexy unit and all I have to say here is just RENACCHI ! The members were Renacchi , Mogi , Ayanan , Miho , Komiharu and Ayaka. Renacchi is just so pretty , stop ignoring her AKS you dumbasdhjashd.

- 4th unit was a cute one again with Sakipon , Megumi , Yuzuki , and Hinako. Just cuteness overload.

- 5th unit was a band performance and I'm like almost sure they were faking it lol. Members were : Mion , Saito Haruna , Haruka , Ayane , Kaoru and Yuzuka. I know for sure that Saito Haruna can play the guitar and she just looked perfect on stage with one. It could have been better with a good main singer imo. A+ for effort tho.

- 6th unit was just a YuuNaa duo , ye nothing much here just the usual

- 7th unit was a bit of a strange one : Megu , Berin , Gyoten Yurina and pretty sure no one knows how Homma Mai. lol

- 8th unit performed Punkish , Loved it ! Okada Rina, Ishiwata Sena, Yamada Kyoka, Yamabe Ayu, Furukawa Nazuna.

- 9th unit was a vocal unit lol : Yuihan , Miichan , Odaeri , Rissen Airi , Otake Hitomi , Saki , Hattsu and Sayaka

- 10th unit was Sakaguchi Nagisa and two of the new eitos Tokunaga Remi and Fukutome Mitsuho that btw are so cute.

- 11th unit was danso unit , It was really fun but imo they choose a bad song sadly , members were : Shiichan , Momoka , Sato Akari , Haruna , Kyoka (she was so smoll)

-12th unit performed Get You ! thank you again whoever made that decision , members were : Muto Orin, Nakanishi Chiyori, Okumoto Hinano, Kuramoto Miyuu, Kawamoto Saya, Takita Kayoko, Yoshida Karen, Tatsuya Makiho, Miyazato Rira, Hirano Hikaru, Harumoto Yuki. The one thing I have to say from this perf is that Yoshida Karen deserves more love!

-13th unit ...finally the best unit with the best performance. Members were : Yukirin , Tomu , Nanase , Yukarun , Omori Miyu and Macharin. It was just so good. I was shouting Encore like an idiot infront of my screen after it ended. Please AKS more of this unit. Yukirin and Tomu chemistry on stage was really good , I didn't know I needed that duo together. Macharin was so extra I love it. Dance , singing , charisma , stage presence , fan service everything was perfect.

- 14th unit performed Hatsukoi door and dare I say I enjoyed it way more than the original , Members were : Kuranoo Narumi , Ami , Kanabun, Honda Sora (yes!) , Manami , Ran and Kiara . Kuranoo really fits the center for this one and Ami and Kanabun are just so good dancers , I loved every seconds of this perf.

-15th unit was the weakest one imo , prob due to the song selection , members were : Iwatate Saho, Shimizu Maria, Inagaki Kaori, Nagatomo Ayami, Fukuoka Seina.

-16th unit the last one.....well lol. It was just the pushed members. Members were : Zukki , Yuiyui , Mahopyon , Rei and Satoppi. Yuiyui was the better one on stage I would say.

Then was just the sad songs with everyone.

I wish they did this stage every week ...yes it was that good. But ye I know its not realistic

same i think without the words the light orange dresses wouldve been very pretty but they are still ok i like them and the colorful clothes too the covers werent bad they werent amazing but i still like them .

After seeing how gets to participate in which song i'm glad to see that younger gens are pushed and some are participating in almost all unit songs , all 9th gen get to be included and coming flavor is back with another song and i think its included in all the singles not sure . Also a well deserved chikako center ! I'm so happy for her she worked so hard for ske over the years as a vice leader for team S and loves the group so much ! Also shiina has always been very popular finally they give her a time to shine congrats ! . I wouldve loved if J was included in the units but oh well... hoping her solo is more of a bop ! Than a ballad or something slow churi's solo is enough sadness for us . The only thing left is to promote some 9ki this was announced a few days ago :



So hope they get promoted there or in one of the concerts schedueld next year because thats the only thing missing for ske numbers they are lacking numbers !! If they promote atleast some 9ki and release music more frequently + mainstream performances jurina wont have to force herself to stay till she's 30
