so conveniently a contestant from each country, just from voting?

korean votes are more valuable
example 1000 korean votes = 50%, while 100000 chinese votes + rest of the world = 50%
so i guess the final lineup will consist of more korean

yeah, the campaign on universe said that the k/c/j members with the most votes during the "pre-voting" would be featured, so one of each

A lot of stuff to talk about today too.
First of all it's cool and interesting that they are streaming it on youtube for international fans. It was pretty bad that unless you lived somewhere that had mnet you couldn't watch it legit. I wonder if it's going to be for the entirety of the show or just episode 1, but it's a good move and I hope they keep it for the full showing. As far as english subs go, I assume they will add them eventually but don't expect them when the show goes live. There is a chance they have them from the start, and since it's a taped show and not live it's a decent chance imo, but I won't be too bothered if they take a day or 2 to add them.
Didn't see Mashiro winning the J-group vote on Universe. I guess her fans are just quiet compared to the other girls. Either that or not many people voted for J-group girls.
Not surprised the final members aren't group locked. I always expected it to be like that. There is no good reason for them to lock themselves into it. Also not surprised the voting is going to change depending on mission. Also a very predictable thing since they did the same for the PD series. Very curious how the 50/50 votes works. I expected them to do something to mitigate the influx of votes from international fans considering how much bigger the potential viewers are compared to Korea alone but very curious how it will work. Are they equalizing the votes in numbers, are they doing percentage based, are they doing position based?
I don't put much weight on the whole we are checking the votes to avoid rigging. That is very much a case of we have investigated ourselves and found us not guilty. Much like companies hire "independent investigators" that very conveniently never find anything wrong with what they did I don't expect this system to be any more secure than the previous one. They will just not talk about the rigging in messaging apps and poof there goes any evidence.
The PD mentioned screen time and that one I agree that there isn't much they can do. At the end of the day they have to put up a show that people will find interesting and most people aren't really interested in the 99th girl and her struggles sadly. That's why I like that they at least released each girls solo fancam for the PD series. It isn't the same as screen time on the show because that is what the vast majority watch but at least you have the option to check out every girl and her performance if you should so chose. The editing is what worries me the most and is what can be 100% avoided. I think evil editing a girl to be a villain is crossing the line for views and extremely immoral. If there is natural drama sure shoot it and air it, but MNET actively forces the drama where there is none with incredibly obvious editing.
This is super early and a lot is going to happen, but right now I have a feeling final group will be 6-2-1 for K-C-J. Either that or 5-2-2.
I like the teasers they released now better. View wise the drama one clearly does better, but this one had way more about the girls, what the show is gonna be and how things are going to work. Seems like they got ranked by their audition tapes initially. It's a bit weird that the girls didn't have their rank on their name tag while on standby to perform but had them while performing. Not really super relevant but I wonder what the timeline was between that shot and the performance and when did they give the girls their ranks.
I think the Monster Baby performance kind of worked. It isn't the same vibe as the original, but that is fine. The girls did well. Surprised by Sein singing. Was not expecting that. Wasn't perfect but she has a pretty nice voice. Hard to tell her range with just this, but she has a nice pleasing tone that is clear. My issue with her performance is the same as the signal song, she has virtually no expression. Yeseo is also pretty much what I saw from the signal song solo cam, but I think over the top moves work better with this song. I thought she did a great job with the dance. Had good expressions but dropped them when singing. I already knew she wasn't the best singer from videos I watched before, so not surprising but she really is a very weak singer. Myah and Chaeyun did a decent job dancing. Nothing too impressive and I thought Myah was slightly better. She also did a better job with the few rapping parts they showed. Again nothing that jumps out at you but she pulled it off decently enough. Chaeyun wasn't a sore thumb but I felt her delivery and tone sounded a bit more raw. Also seems like the girls were wearing 3 microphone transmitters and one of Yeseo's fell.
This is probably one of my favorite parts of these audition shows. Girls covering other groups songs. I wish the variety was larger on the song selection but it's always fun seeing new renditions of old classics specially when they put their own spin and charm into the performance. Can't wait to see what and how everyone does for their first performance. less than 12 hours till episode one.
I think we can already tell the fanbase for most girls in the international voting, am very curious how the Korean voting is gonna turn out. Depending on how they do the 50% thing it can have a huge impact on the rankings.

Episode 1 ended, here I am for some sum up and thoughts. So spoilers ahead.
- Performance wise it was okay overrall, but vocally I find it kinda average or weak. We didn't see every team yet so we'll have to wait.
- Choosing a good song is really important, if you can carry it or if it's suited for your team's strength you can win. Those who performed Rumor and Wannabe for example, the songs were too difficult for them. On the other hand Kang Yeseo's team choosing Boombayah was great even if the whole team had a cuter image.
- The twins, people will find them cute, or funny, or creepy. They tried to perform Chocome's Hmph in order to compensate their vocal and dance skills.
- The drama was at the end with the Yaning-Yujin interaction. Obviously one of the highlights of this episode. The diss was so straightforward I think no one expected it, especially if the targer is Yujin a senior, a veteran idol. Mnet didn't had to create the drama, they were served and played along. They had their main villain.
- Kang Yeseo and Cai Bing are confirmed as my picks and they made it. Same for Chiayi.
- That episode 2 teaser with Yujin crying, whether she made it or not, Mnet knows how to tease us. It would be a big surprise if she didn't made it but with Mnet you can't tell.
