I think Rima did a great job. She was very charming and showed personality on her performance. Further solidifying her place not only on next phase but probably in the future group.

I also think Hina did a great job. She was very into her performance, showcase a lot of charm and personality. I am very surprised they didn't give her a red cube. Not really sure what JYP and the other judges thought she was lacking in this evaluation. The most I can speculate is maybe they thought what she did was more about acting than being and idol, but I would disagree. He gave Mako, Riku, Maya, Ayaka and Nina a cube also and what they did is equally not really something an idol needs to do. Very curious decision. I have a feeling she didn't make it to Korea, but we'll see.

I think Miihi did well especially with how nervous she was. It wasn't a mind blowing performance, but she showed charisma and had good stage presence. At this point I would say all the JYP kids are safe even if Yuna not as much as the others.

Miu was very cute but not really much more beyond that. I think the small shots of the girls interacting while eating the grapes with the whipped cream was nice and again would like to see more of that. I don't really think star quality should be one of the criteria's personally because of how abstract it is. What Miu did could qualify if you argue she did draw interest to her even if it wasn't really super memorable. I think it's something that should be kept in mind by the judges, but that would show itself naturally as they perform.

I have no idea what Suzu was doing in her short appearance but she looked cute, and she got a cube, so it would have been interesting to see the full performance.

Yuna got the cube looks like by doing so cheerleading inspired performance. Also would be nice to be able to watch that in full.

Moeno, Fuuna, Rei and Kako seemed to have done some sort of dance performance each and only Moeno got the cube.

Ana played the violin and didn't get the cube. There was a rumor on twitter the declined to go to Korea or something, but I wouldn't really trust that much. Poor girl looked very disheartened at times in the video. Ranking low on both dance and singing must have really taken it out of her. I don't think either of the girls from the LA make it.

Nina is super popular with international fans, but I don't know how popular she is in Japan. Almost every thing I see about her on sns is from international fans. Will be very interesting to see how this develops. She did a great job with her radio show. The little opening song she produced was pretty cute and she definitely has an appealing personality. I'm only certain of around 6 girls that are making it and she is one of them.

Akari is a very cute kid. Her performance wasn't perfect but she showed her peppiness and her alluring smile. She has a very pleasing aura about her specially when she is smiling and happy. I'm very curious to how she does in the group performances and how she reacts to professional training.

I wouldn't argue against any of the people that got the red cube, but I absolutely would have given more to some other contestants. It seems that JYP said the girls can get all 4 cubes in the group performance portion of the evaluation. It will be intriguing to see if anyone can turn the tides.

I have a bad feeling about Riria and Ririka based on nothing really. Just feel like there is a chance they don't make it. Which would be sad for me cause I sympathize with both and think both could be great in the group with proper training.

I'm also exited to see how Sana and Momo judge the girls.

The last 2 episodes coming up are the ones I'm most keen to watching. Always my favorite part of these kinds of shows.

Nina is actually fairly popular at least on the Sukkiri episodes I've seen. Doesn't really matter though as there is no voting going on.

Hey guys! I just binged the first 5 episodes (cannot find an english sub for ep. 6 or 7 anywhere grr) and I have to confess I had no idea Mako was such an all-rounder ace and born leader at JYPE. I used to hang around JYPNGG/Itzy predebut threads a few years ago and remember when she popped up as a trainee! I thought she was a cutie and an above average dancer but didn't see major star quality back then, and now here I am obsessed with her and realizing this is why I am not a talent agent haha

Episodes 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 2-2, 3-1, and 3-2 on jyp main youtube sight.
It is interesting to see how much Nina has blown up on the JYP web sight. While I thought she would be popular I did not expect her to be that popular. I was expecting the focus to be more or less equal between Nina, Miihi, and Rima. Especially since the later are already known JYP trainees. I had been a bit worried about the shows popularity as I hadn't seen that many downloads and views prior to it being on the JYP site. But the main JYP youtube channel is really boosting the shows popularity now. 😁 At this stage anyone blowing up is a good thing and as of now episode 1-1 has over 2.7M views. I'm expecting and hoping it continues in episode 4 when Mako does her dance routine and she will get the attention she deserves. It is still early days if Miihi gets a big boost from episode 3-2 but haven't quite seen it yet. May still happen as Nina took a couple days for her to catch on for the main viewers in the first half of the episodes. But glad that the episodes that started about two months ago are finally starting to take off at least on youtube. I have not heard much in the Korean chatter just the western ones about the Nizi project. Other than Ayaki has anyone heard of any comments from the Korean / Japanese idol chatter groups?

yeah Hina not getting the cube was ridiculous when so many of the girls did similar skits or things that were also more about talent than personality

nothing: Kako, Hina, Ana, Erina, Ayane, Funa, Mayuka.

If it is indeed still 20 girls heading to Korea it would be safe to bet that it would be the 19 girls who have earned cubes so far + one of the no cube girls that has gotten decent screentime (aka: Hina, Erina, or Ayane) although anything is still possible at this point. Personally I don't think anyone will fail the personality cube (meaning that the 8 with all three are definitely going) and that that episode/segment will just be focused on cute behind the scenes stuff...At least I hope so bc branding a young girl/women as a bad person based on four extremely stressful days + the opinions of other stressed teenage girls who are technically competing w you is v bad idea imo

Nizi Project to be feature on Sukkiri again for 2 days on the 19th and the 20th.

So after watching the official english subbed episodes on youtube I started thinking for a bit. Now that is has been a while since I watched episode 3 on Friday and I haven't seen anyone mention this I'm still a bit confused. Before the official subs were out I was under the impression the second season and training in Korea would be part of the audition process in choosing the members of the group, but by how the subs are written it seems like this is the whole audition process and the Nippon Tv part is just the debut preparation. Not sure if I just missed it entirely, or if it was a lost in translation thing or if this is just me misunderstanding it now. Rereading all the translated info and news about it now everything seems a bit ambiguous and not too clear. What was clear was the press conference in which JYP announced the project on their youtube channel. He said there would be 20 girls selected, brought to Korea to train and from them he would make yet another selection for the final group. Maybe it's just a manner of speaking and I'm putting way too much thought into it. It does feel though that saying final members means more than just the girls that will get to train and eventually be selected.

If they do indeed stuck with JYP's press conference words I think it's fairly easy to guess who didn't make it. Sato Ana had very little screen time and ranked poorly on both dance and vocals so I would be very surprised if she made it. Likewise Oguri Kako 20th in both evaluations and barely any creen time. Tanigawa Hina ranked on the lower half in both and is very active on social media so she surely didn't make it. Takaya Funa also has the same profile as Ana and Kako for the show. The last two are a bit harder to figure out but my guess is between Ito Rei, Ogou Mayuka, Taniya Kyoka, Hanada Erina and Mei Plunkett. The likeliest in my mind is Mayuka and Kyoka, but I wouldn't be surprised by any of the five being the ones out. Rei and Mei have the highest overall ranking out of the 5 but almost no screen time while Kyoka and Erina got some spotlight. Erina ranked very low but JYP liked her enough during the audition and her star quality despite her lack of skill that I wouldn't be surprised if she made it. Kyoka felt a bit like a nod by the producers of the show and JYP of her effort during her star quality evaluation.

Now for the final group or if they indeed decided to only bring to Korea the girls who would be part of the group I am fairly certain of Mako, Rima, Miihi, Yuna, Nina and Ayaka. Now comes into question how many girls they will put in this group. JYPE loves their numbers so it could be 7 because of the colors of the rainbow, but as we've seen before lately the company has been more flexible with the number of members in the group so I don't think they are gonna force 7 and keep out girls they think would be good in the group. People speculating 9 because of the silhouettes and/or the Twice mentions are reading too much into it imo. Not that I think 9 isn't possible, just not convinced 9 is the number they have in mind or as something they had planned since the start.

I think Suzu has a good shot at making it which would make it 7 and fit the rainbow theory. Personally I'm cheering for Akari, Riria and Ririka. I think Akari has a shot at making it depending on how well she responds to training in Korea. As I've said before I have a bad feeling about Riria and Ririka though. Riria did well in the rankings but was just a less than a second clip on the star quality evaluation, which JYP has said is what he is looking for the most. Ririka did well in the dance part and poorly in the vocal part, which was expected, but rather than that they basically stopped showing her after the auditions which might be concerning. Since all of this was shot back in August and the girls are probably already in Korea since then my guess is a lot of the editing was done to set up season 2 which might be bad news for them.

I think Riku, Maya and Rio have a chance of making it also. Probably around the same chance as Akari. I like Rio even though some people don't because she wasn't sure she wanted to be an idol, but I feel she has what it takes and seem diligent enough to give it her all if she is selected. Maya would be a nice choice too, she seems like a good kid that clearly wants to be an idol, especially in a K-pop style. We didn't get to see much of Riku aside from her being a black-belt in karate, but she did well in the evaluations and also seems like a good kid.

I think Miu, Momoka, Ayane and Moeno are on the outside looking in. Miu and Momoka got some attention, ranked around the middle, and each have their charms, but I don't think at this point they have overtaken any of the girls ahead of them. Ayane and Moeno are a similar case imo. Both are more dancer than singers, even if Ayane ranked surprisingly low in dance, but so far also haven't pulled ahead of the pack. Out of this group I would say Moeno has the higher chance of making it but not by much.

A lot can change depending on the group performances but I don't expect them to.

It was definitely confusing with what the english subs seemed to imply but I think the JYP press conference would be the more reliable source of information. A 1 week training camp to select the 20 to go to SK for training makes sense while that short amount of time to decide a final debut team would not. Also using a fill your pendant system doesn't makes sense to decide a debut team. I imagine it's there to emphasize to the girls what values this project is looking for.

I agree with you who I think JYP and the other staffers like but there's a skill gap currently between a few of their faves and some of the other more polished contestants.

I agree with your point about the pendant process if this were in fact the only audition process. It would be very unfair and not thorough enough. I also am leaning towards the theory that I overthought it but I do keep in mind how flexible and vulnerable to change things are for companies especially when so much is on the line.

As far as the skill gaps go, JYP has always said that isn't the main thing he looks for and has said so in this show already. I don't think he will chose the girls based on skill as long as they have a basic level that can be improved upon and personally all the girls I've mentioned as favorites fit that description.

From the reports I've read it sounds like the purpose of S1 was to introduce and select 20 girls to train in SK for 6 months. The training will also cover S2, the season meant to determine the final Nizi lineup slated for an April reveal. I have a feeling the lineup will most likely be 9 girls, but realistically it could be anywhere from 7 to 12 depending on how many do well in formal training.

Hina should have 100% been given a star quality cube, I totally agree with lusobr and AstroBaby. Her play was easily top 5 star quality performances for me so I felt blindsided for her when she did not get one. Poor girl looked like she worked the hardest of everyone on making her props, script, and acting entertaining and engaging. Her vocals/dance skills are clearly lacking, but she was more than deserving of the star quality cube!

Mako, Miihi, and Nina are shoo-in in for 3 of the debut spots. Rima and Yuna are extremely likely, but a little less so due to some improvements they need to make and their unique potential to be saved for JYP's next Korean ngg (which would be an unlikely and also way too risky move for JYP).

Suzu, Riku, and Riria seem to have all been unofficially marked as having the most "all-rounder" potential of the non-trainees. This is probably true so I look forward to seeing their growth in S2.

Maya, Miu, Ririka, and Kyoka (or Kyoko ?) have a ton of potential that, in my humble opinion, has been played down or overlooked on the show. I think these contestants deserved more in their ranks/cube count:
Maya had the cleanest "Dalla Dalla" performance (rank 12) and should have ranked much higher. From the clip of her vocals in "A" (rank 12) I also think she deserved more. I can tell she is an ex-YG trainee. She has all-rounder potential.
Miu has indeterminable dance skill (rank 17) as the clip of "Likey" was a second long and they did not show her dance in the audition clip, but her vocals (rank 10) have real potential. Her rendition of "Claris" (Madoka Magica fan?) was definitely better than a few contestants ranked above her.
Ririka's dance (rank 4) and vocals (rank 21) seem like fairly accurate placements, but I think her star quality performance was unfairly cut. The clip shows she did a lovely ballet dance, and to combine that with her natural charisma / use of facial expressions I have a feeling it was a strong performance so I am surprised she did not earn a cube. Riku got a cube for karate and Akari for a cheer dance so this feels inconsistent.
Kyoka has more talent than she is given credit for by JYP, the producers, and the public. Her dancing (rank 18) has not really been aired, but I can tell even from just the clip of "Fancy" in ep. 7 that her dance skills are much stronger than numerous contestants above her. Her audition vocals were quite tense/shaky, but based on the clip of "One More Time" she surely improved and was at the very least better than Ayaka, yet was ranked lower (rank 19). Apparently the reason she did not receive higher ranks is this criticism that she does not "look natural," but it feels like a cop out. I genuinely believe she is mostly being discriminated against due to her age (1998-liner; second oldest contestant).

Suzu, Ayaka, and Momoka all had ranks that were inflated for different reasons, although it is difficult to tell when not all the performances are aired. More in depth analysis:
Suzu (rank 5, 5) has a natural sense of rhythm, but with no real background I have a hard time believing she deserved top 5 for dance. "Who's Your Mama" audition was good, the 24Hrs cover not so much-- actually it made me cringe hard. Her vocals are not strong enough to be top 5 from the audition, but there is no clip of her vocals at bootcamp so maybe she improved a lot. She got a chunk of screen time in the audition phase so I feel like her rank may be inflated due to her personality being "quirky," but she hasn't been shown at all since... odd situation. Seems as though she is tentatively slated for debut lineup, but I am not yet convinced she deserves it. Hoping to see her skills more in s2 so I can be persuaded otherwise!
Ayaka's dance (rank 16) made the final cut for a cube, which felt wrong. Her singing (rank 18) did not earn a cube but was super inflated anyway based off the short clip we get of her robotically singing "One More Time". I think it is fairly obvious her visuals and resemblance to Suzy are why she has been given way more leniency than others. She was pretty cute in her tennis lesson skit though and JYP appears set on debuting her as the visual so I hope she responds well to the training.
Momoka had no clip for her dance (rank 15), but from her audition I can tell she is very weak so I am surprised she managed to obtain a dance cube. Her singing (rank 11) almost made top ten with "Beautiful Girl," a shocking assessment, even if she did improve her vocals since auditioning. I feel like several girls ranked below her did much better. Unsure of why Momoka is inflated, as neither her visuals nor her personality stand out. Perhaps her name just being Hirai Momoka (similar to a twice member) has something to do with it?

I think Ana, Funa, and Mayuka have the lowest chances of making it to SK/s2 based off of the episodes out so far. The other 3 are a toss up between Ayane, Erina, Hina, Rei, Mei. Of that list, only Rei and Mei have cubes so far. Possible S2 spoiler:
I originally thought Kako was not going to make top 20, but she was in a group photo with Suzu, Maya, Ayaka and Miu in SK. Apparently Hina has been active on social media so she may not have made it.
