WRT the debate over whether NiziU is a Kpop or Jpop group, apparently, there's a 3rd option - JKpop!
K-pop groups without Koreans
Can Korean pop music still be considered โK-popโ if it does not feature a Korean singer?Yukika Teramoto, 27, a Japanese city pop artist based in Korea, believes it can. ...www.koreatimes.co.kr
Although most of us were already aware of the anti-JYPE+Japan sentiments, I do wonder whether these views have become more widespread, especially considering how popular NiziU has become even before their official debut.

Sigh...was hoping it was more the case of a small group of antis being extremely vocal. Been staying away from DCInside to avoid this issue in particular - thankfully, things haven't gotten out of hand on YT. The only comparable group that I can reference would be PD48/IZONE, and the backlash they endured with having 48 group members taking part did die down a little bit after debut. I guess being active and busy with fans actively supporting will help to drown out much of the negativity. Still...SK-JP relations are at its low point, and NiziU being 100% Japanese means that there are no Koreans to deflect some of the animosity. Hopefully JYPE/Sony will be able to tread this course carefully to avoid being ensnared in geopolitics (if that is even possible in the current environment). It seems to be quite prevalent. If they try to promote in Korea with a korean language song they'll need to be prepared to deal with the heavy backlash even though they'll have support as well. The DCInside folks are pretty active in defending them so there is a solid korean fanbase for NiziU. I would say probably similar to what a mid-tier k-pop girl group typically has gauging it from the forum activity and streams of MYH continuing from SK that go beyond the initial curiosity.
A lot of Japanese fans (the ones that are into k-pop) do want them to promote in SK so they can go thru the music show circuit etc that doesn't exist in Japan. My guess is they won't have a korean debut until maybe late 2021 into 2022. They'll have established themselves with maybe 3 Japanese releases before doing anything for SK.
