#1. ITZY - NOT SHY
ITZY have returned for their second comeback of the year with their latest mini-album "Not Shy" and the title track of the same name. The saxophone in this is utilized effectively to create a feisty, sassy sound. The pre-chorus, in particular, is really good and provides a great, deep build-up to the chorus. The chorus differentiates itself from their previous songs by being more hip hop geared with the beat and whistles. The music video takes on Western film tropes, then adds a dash of tongue-in-cheek humour all mixed in with Itzy’s particular brand of brash attitude. "Not Shy" is a lovely spin on Itzy’s well-established "I'll do whatever I want" theme, staying consistent with their prior work yet bringing in new creative influences.

#2. BTS - DYNAMITE
BTS is finally back with a great news single that is guaranteed to blow up the charts like "Dynamite" as they break record after record! "Dynamite" is the group's first English-language single and it is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face with how infectious it's joy truly is! After coronavirus has left so many stuck in a financial and literal depression with all things being cancelled left and right, the group has returned with a bright new single that will hopefully help in alleviating at least some of your worries as they bring us another bright and summery banger. Just as they did with "Boy With Luv", this song grooves along with similar energy, bounding on rhythm guitar and joyful synth accents. The group has yet again joined hands with their long-time collaborator Lumpens to bring us the accompanying video for you to feast your eyes on when you sing along to them like "Dynamite".

#3. HINATAZAKA46 - CUNNINGLY CUTE
Hinatazaka has returned with a great new single in the lead-up to the release of their upcoming first full-length album! The song, “Cunningly Cute”, is a bright track that acts as the perfect song to cap off the summer season with. The group proclaims their love for someone they describe as "Cunningly Cute" who stops them in their tracks even during rush hour when everyone is trying to get from one place to another. The music video, just like the song, is as bright as the sun. As each of the girls dance around on the sand surrounded by blue just like the colour of the ocean as they sing to you with the brightest smiles on their faces as the music video visually symbolises the feeling of falling for someone to being similar to drowning. Overall, this is another amazing release from Hinatazaka46, an often underappreciated member of the 46G family!

#4. DREAMCATCHER - BOCA
Following the success of their first full-album "Dystopia: The Tree of Language", the girls of Dreamcatcher have returned with their 5th mini-album "Dystopia: Lose Myself" and title track "BOCA". This time, "BOCA" takes Dreamcatcher’s rock base and casts it over trendier tropical pop. The fusion of tropical percussion and edgier sonic elements makes for an interesting blend. The song's second verse is quite groovy, especially with the eerie strings and dramatic guitar flourishes that accent the otherwise rhythmic structure. "BOCA's" music video is somewhat of a continuation to that of "Scream" and follows through with the subject of bullying, but this time, it's from a protector’s viewpoint. As the song is about someone being a target, the masked character symbolizes a person who is out to hurt someone with their words. The mask implies the anonymity that online commenters are shield by when making negative remarks towards others. The voice of the song is a protector and they are out to silence those who are making harmful and negative comments. In the end, we see the mask on the floor suggesting they were defeated.

#5. ONEUS - TO BE OR NOT TO BE
ONEUS is the latest Road to Kingdom participants to make a comeback, and they've done a fantastic job with their 4th mini-album "Lived" and the title track "To Be or Not To Be". The foundation of this song is strong, with a solid chorus and dramatic atmosphere that bodes well for the performance aspects of the track. It delivers plenty of highlights including a very promising opening verse with an instrumental that unfolds with a moody, yet funky, drive. The standout is definitely the pre-chorus, where the rhythm transforms into a driving structure as the guys offer a dramatic melody. The song's title is a reference to the infamous quote from the timeless literary classic, "Hamlet". While the play has been noted for its take on the idea of love, ONEUS have more so utilized its main message on life and death. The lyrics expand on the metaphor of a past lover symbolizing pain and death whereas letting her go will ultimately bring life.

#6. SEJEONG - WHALE
Following the release of her single "Plant" not too long ago, Gugudan's Sejeong has returned with a new digital single "Whale". The song takes on the adult-contemporary sound and makes a great effort at using the guitar strings combined with her splendid voice, plus a bit of electronic tropical samples. Sejeong’s vocals are the real standout here. They’re crisp, clear and occasionally attack the melody in an interesting way. High notes are peppered throughout the song and are often delivered right when the track needs them most.

#1. It was reported that ITZY's latest mini-album "Not Shy" exceeded 200,000 stock pre-orders prior to its release. The group then went on to break their personal 1st-week sales record with "Not Shy" getting 77,471 sales within just 2 days, surpassing their previous release, "IT'z Me" which got just over 64,000 first week sales. By the 4th day, "Not Shy" surpassed 100,000 sales on Hanteo becoming their first album to pass this milestone.

#2. It took just 17 hours for BTS to
beat their personal 24-hour YouTube record of 74.6 million views set by their hit single from 2019 "Boy With Luv", as the group's 1st English single "Dynamite" surpassed 74.8 million views with ease. The final 24-hour views came in at 98.2 million, and alongside the 8.8 million likes it amassed during that period, "Dynamite" is now the most viewed and most liked music video on YouTube in the first 24 hours. The music video also got over 100 million views within just 24 and a half hours, becoming the quickest to surpass this milestone. However, it was later confirmed by YouTube themselves that the music video actually amassed a whopping 101.1 million views within the first 24-hours. Last but not least, it was revealed that "Dynamite" surpassed 12.6 million Spotify streams on its opening day, making it the biggest counter debut in the platform’s history. We anticipate more record-breaking from the single in the next few weeks!

#3. BLACKPINK recently
surpassed 44M subscribers on their official YouTube channel making them the 4th most subscribed-to artists on the platform behind Justin Bieber, DJ Marshmallow & Ed Sheeran. This further extends their record as not just the most subscribed K-pop artists but also the most subscribed female artists on YouTube. Alongside this, the dance performance video for the latest hit single "How You Like That" has surpassed 200 million views.

#4. (G)I-DLE have recently surpassed
500 million streams on Spotify!
