I know that JYP/WMJ/TWICE are reaching further to the Japanese audience and touring other Japan regions. But since this an arena tour, why didn't they book BIGGER arenas like Saitama Super Arena, Yokohama or even Tokyo arena to accommodate additional demand? This could have lessen the number of dates and the girls will not tire as much.

With the exception of Chiba, every other location is outside of the Kanto region/ Greater Tokyo Area, which is where the majority of their concerts have been so far. They probably didn't book Saitama, Yokohama, or Tokyo venues because they weren't targeting fans in those regions. They probably also chose Makuhari Messe because it is a similar sized venue to the other venues in the leg, which means they can use the same staging throughout the JP tour. The staging you need for a 30K Saitama Super Arena concert is different than the staging for a 10-12K arena, which is the bulk of this JP leg.
It's pretty likely that they were gauging demand in the outlying areas. Now that they know, I'm pretty sure the next Dome tour will have a few additional Dome venues in the itinerary.

Any news about status of ticket sales? I'm assuming that since general tix are open only for Hokkaido, Osaka and Fukuoka, the other venues are sold out?
I’m not too sure - I haven’t seen anything being reported on Japanese media yet
